The three core functions of automobiles are driving, turning and stopping. Safe driving is impossible unless an automobile is able to stop safely. Nisshinbo Brakes supplies a host of brake-related products that help vehicles stop, ultimately ensuring driver safety.
Quality is an essential element of product safety. Accordingly, in addition to its quality management system certification under ISO 9001, the company has earned ISO/TS16949 certification by satisfying the additional requirements that are imposed on automotive manufacturers. As such qualifications demonstrate, Nisshinbo Brakes employs a thorough safety management system in its manufacture of brake-related products.

Nisshinbo Brakes provides the core parts for braking apparatus, such as friction materials, as well as drum brake and disc brake assemblies. The extensive expertise that we have accumulated in relation to raw materials, as well as the evaluation technologies that consistently occupy industry’s leading edge, sustain world-leading levels of developmental prowess. Our assemblies, which showcase our accumulation of machine assembly technology in their development and manufacture, are highly regarded by the world’s automakers.
In recent years, automakers have faced growing needs to ensure optimal procurement on a global basis. To meet this demand, we are promoting partnerships and strategic alliances with affiliates in Japan and overseas, thereby strengthening our stable supply system in the three core world regions of Asia, North America and Europe. On the development front, we employ advanced analysis technology to create products with high levels of functionality and quality. We are also working to extend our lineup of Green Pad products, featuring environmentally friendly friction materials.
In the future, as a global supplier of automobile brakes we will continue contributing to advances in automotive safety and comfort, as well as environmental responsiveness.

Friction materials are key components of automobile brakes. Disc brakes, which are integrated into a vehicle’s wheels, employ these materials on as two disk-shaped metal platters called disk pads. When forcibly pinched inward, these friction materials cause the wheels to stop turning. Drum brakes, on the other hand, are integrated into the wheels in a tubular fashion. Friction materials are used on the inside of these drums. When pressed, these brake linings cause wheel rotation to stop. For both disc pads and brake linings, friction causes the wheels to stop rotating.
The friction materials that Nisshinbo Brakes uses are instrumental in delivering superior braking power, as well as a comfortably smooth braking experience. They also contribute to functional stability and durability under a variety of conditions. We supply brakes for a broad range of vehicles, from minicars, passenger cars and sports cars to large trucks and buses.

In addition to brake components, we manufacture drum brake and truck disc brake assemblies. We provide an extensive range of brake assemblies, from light to heavy vehicles. Our assemblies, which couple advanced mechanical assembly technology with thorough quality assurance, are used in 30% of Japanese-made cars. We also supply leading overseas manufacturers, including the U.S. based “big three” automakers.
